The City of Akron Hosting Health Equity Summit

Akron, OH (Nov. 1, 2016) – City of Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan is holding the 2016 Health Equity Summit Thursday, Nov. 10 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Registration begins at 7:45 am at the Akron Summit County Public Library Main Branch.

This year’s topic will focus on prematurity and infant mortality. Attendees will be educated about consequences and causes of premature births, evidence-based strategies in place for prevention and the challenges for implementation, and ways to address these challenges by working together to improve the number and timing of prenatal care visits.

The keynote speaker will be Soma Stout, MD. Soma is the Executive Lead for 100 Million Healthier Lives Institute for Healthcare Improvement. In addition to a panel discussion, other speakers include Justin Lavin, MD of Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Latrice Snodgrass from Summa Health System and Mayor Horrigan.

Summa Health System is accredited by the Ohio State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Summa Health System designates this live activity for a maximum of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
