Helping Women Take Control Of Their Health

At AxessPointe Community Health Centers, we want to educate and empower women to take control of their health. Women’s health includes topics ranging from birth control to annual exams to periods. Women should have their first gynecological exam when they become sexually active or by age 21. It is recommended that women visit their doctor once a year, unless they begin having problems. These problems could include pelvic pain, changes in periods, menopause and irregular bleeding. Regular exams also preventive women’s health measures, including: HPV screenings, birth control and HIV counseling.

Healthy You, Healthy Baby

The Healthy You, Healthy Baby program is a joint effort between AxessPointe and Akron General’s OB/GYN Residency Program. The goal of the program is to bring in women who are struggling with weight gain and give them topics to discuss to change their lifestyles. Significant others are also welcome to attend the sessions to learn the same information and be a source of support.

The group meets each week for a two-hour session in AxessPointe’s Women’s Health Center. Topics include exercise, sleep safe, nutrition and cooking classes. To learn more, contact the Women’s Health Center at 888.975.9188.
